The Amazon

The Amazon is suffering a serious environmental catastrophe right now. Last August, 2.5 million, hectares. were burned, according to estimates by Brazil´s National Institute for Space Research (INPE). Amazon States have already declared an emergency situation. Instead of curbing this tragedy, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is encouraging practices that are prodeforestation and against the environment. On August 10 and 11, farmers around a main road in the Amazon publicly celebrated a "day of fire" to deforest with fire and clear the way for soybean plantations and cattle ranching. this resukted in a 300% increase in fires in the area. it´s unforgivable. The planet can´t afford to have the Amazon on fire. It Bolsonaro does not act as quickly as the emergency demands, it will take decades to recover. Demand that Bolsonaro not destroy the Amazon and now aplly policies of zero deforestation.
