Climate change is the greatest environmental threat facing humanity.
The global variation of the earth's climate is called climate change.
This variation is due to natural causes and human action and occurs on all climatic parameters: temperature, rainfall, cloudiness, on a variety of time scales.
Rising temperatures have many consequences at other levels, such as weather extremes ( hurricanes, prolonged droughts, floods) sea level rise or change in weather patterns in certain areas.
The biggest problem of accelerated climate change is that our societies are not prepared to take on the changes this may bring: melting of the glaciers and snow-capped mountains that supply aqueducts,changes in the flowering and fruiting cycles of crop plants, rises in sea levels where there is a large population living,
greater occurrence and strength in rains, droughts, hurricanes, frosts and hailstorms in urban and rural areas among other phenomena that undoubtedly reduce our quality of life.
IMPACT
The effects
of climate change are already being felt, and will get worse. Global warming
has already reached approximately 1°C above pre-industrial levels. Every
half-degree (or even less) of global warming counts. It is important to
remember that none of the lists of climate change effects is exhaustive. It is
very likely that heat waves will occur more frequently and last longer, and
that rainfall will become more intense and frequent in many regions. The oceans
will continue to warm and acidify, and the global average sea level will
continue to rise. All this will have - and is already beginning to have - a
devastating impact on human life.
